NOTICE TO ALL LEWISTON VOTERS: JUNE 12, 2018 STATE PRIMARY & REFERENDUM AND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION BALLOTS All voters will receive one State Referendum ballot, one School Referendum ballot and a state Democratic party candidate ballot, state Green-Independent party candidate ballot or state Republican party candidate ballot, if enrolled in that political party VOTER REGISTRATION HOURS In accordance with MRSA, Title 21-A, Section 122, Subsection 6, A(2), you are hereby notified that a Wednesday, May 23, 2018, voter registrations will only be accepted from applicants who appear in person Proof of identity and Lewiston residency are required. The Office will be open during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and extended hours on Thursday, June 7 until 7pm, but cannot accept any application for registration taken at places other than the City Clerk's Office. The law also requires that when a voter's address changes, the voter must notify the Registrar of such change. Residents may register to vote at their polling place on election day and proof of identity and Lewiston residency is required. CHANGING POLITICAL PARTY ENROLLMENT The state deadline to change political parties in order to vote in the primary election is 4:00pm on Friday, May 25, 2018. Voters who are unenrolled in a political party may enroll in a political party at the polling places on election day ADDITIONAL ELECTION CLERKS NEEDED Lewiston registered voters enrolled in the Democratic or Republican Party who are interested in working at the polls as an Election Clerk should contact the City Clerk's Office at 513-3124 SAMPLE BALLOTS AND CITIZEN'S INFORMATION GUIDE The elections section of the City's website contains a list of candidates, sample ballots, videos, and links to the Secretary of State's Citizens Guide to the Referendum Questions. The City's website is www lewistonmalne.gov/electlons ABSENTEE BALLOTS Absentee ballots are available from the City Clerk's Office. The statewide deadline for requesting absentee ballots is June 7. Absentee voting can be conducted at City Hall Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm and extended hours on Thursday, June 7 until 7pm. An elevator is available next to the office. To have a ballot mailed to you, please call the City Clerk's Department at 513-3124.
